As I said in the home page, food is an important thread in the cloth of a given place. Going to restaurants, bars and food markets is fun but it is so important because that is where the people are. Shopping, preparing and eating food is a basic thing that everyone does a little differently, bringing insight into the real culture of the place. Paris is an easy example, the food is precise and people linger to talk, it is considered rude if you don’t hang around for a while. Conversely, Creekside Cellars is more of a ski lodge with people wandering in and out. This is not a comprehensive list but we like good food and I post when we like the place.

Every society has a specific set of ideas and customs, and a certain set of manufactures and arts that make it unique. Because ancient civilizations continue to influence us today, and because I love history, I have devoted many posts to prehistory and ancient civilizations.
